Call to Order / Introductions The meeting is called to order at 3:37pm. The meeting is called for discussion purposes. No quorum was met for this meeting. II. Review and Approval of Minutes: April 10, 2018 Approval of minutes will be tabled till next meeting due to no quorum met. No motion will be made for approval. The advisory council members will review for corrections at the current time. III. Old Business a. Quarterly Report The advisory council reviews the activities of GSAT throughout the Fiscal Year. (State Level and State Leadership Activities attached) b. Discussion tabled for next meeting Updating the disclaimer for the short-term device loan program. IV. New Business a. Equipment Purchases GSAT has been procuring new devices and equipment. A catalog of the new equipment and devices have been prepared and presented to the Advisory Council for review. (See Attached) Lou would like to plan and schedule a fieldtrip for the Autism Community Together (ACT) Organization to visit the GSAT Demo/Model home. b. Akudi Loan Update Akudi Loan Program brochures will be disseminated to local medical equipment suppliers, and healthcare facilities. The advisory council is presented a drafted sample of posters and brochures for the Akudi Loan Program to give their input. They all favor the green poster with white text. c. High Impact Innovative Assistive Technology Grant – HIIAT Grant CEDDERS intends to do an application for the HIIAT Grant. Only 5 applicants will be awarded the funds. More info will come once the Christopher Reeves Foundation releases more information and data is collected (Possibly, October). d. RESNA Conference Leah attended this year’s RESNA Conference in Arlington, Virginia from July 13 to July 15. She attended 2 plenary sessions, and 9 breakout sessions covering topics such as, Ethics, Accessibility Features on Your Smart Devices, and Academic Transition. e. Proposal to Include Executive Member to Attend Off-Island AT Conferences Lou would like to have the Advisory Council members more involved with GSAT projects and events. A request is made by Lou to send out invitations to the Advisory Council members for the events GSAT will be facilitating. Lou suggests this will help the Advisory Council be more involved, promote networking for recruitment of new members, etc. Evelyn proposes bringing back the opportunity for Advisory Council members to be included in attending off-island conferences with the GSAT Coordinator. The council members are advised to make suggestion to the directors. f. Recruitment of New Members for the Council The GSAT Advisory Council Membership Appointments policies have been voted on in the previous meeting (refer to minutes from April 10, 2018 meeting). The appointment policies will go into effect October 2018. Lou makes a point that new members will need to be recruited soon. Guam Department of Education (GDOE) has not been attending the Advisory Council meetings for the past year. Jack Larimer has stepped down from the council, and Nichole Napoleon has not been attending the meetings. Lee Perez and Jude Ogo have also been absent from the meetings for quite some time. Ben and Lou highly recommend recruiting new members, and suggest recruiting members who benefit from GSAT’s services. V. Open Discussions / Announcements ADA Activities (Schedule attached) VI.
